Westword, Two-Year-Old Qutori Wines Runs Away With the Governor's Cup
“Deemed best among the fourteen wines selected for the 2019 Governor’s Cup Collection, Qutori Wines’ 2017 Syrah placed Best in Show at this year’s Colorado Uncorked wine tasting event at the History Colorado Center on November 15.
Remarkably, Paonia-based Qutori Wines is only two years old and a first-time participant in the Governor’s Cup competition.”
Governor's Cup Wine Competition shows growing depth in state's wineries
“There are two major events each year that celebrate the health of grape growing and winemaking in Colorado.
One is the late-summer Colorado Mountain Winefest, deservedly named the “Best Wine Festival in the Nation” by USA Today, and another is the late-summer, almost-winter Colorado Uncorked, perhaps equally well-known as the Colorado Governor’s Cup.
In only its second vintage and its first appearance at the Governor’s Cup, Qutori received not only the top prize, but also racked up silver medals with its 2017 Estate Pinot Noir, 2017 Reserve Pinot Noir and 2018 Chardonnay.”

“These splendors made an otherwise impossible year a bit more palatable. A thanks to these producers for managing to release exceptional wines (and keep the lights on) when so much else seemed unknown. Your work made my life a little sweeter.”

“The bottle that launched three-year-old Qutori Wines into Colorado’s boozy limelight was the 2017 Syrah, which won a best-in-show prize at the 2019 Governor’s Cup Collection competition in Denver. “The win was a total surprise to us…”
Colorado Road Trip: The North Fork Valley
“Home to the quaint communities of paonia, hotchkiss and crawford, the north fork valley is a creative cocktail of charming wineries, crafty artisans and rolling farmlands. Crisp autumn days are perfect for exploring this verdant valley and sampling all of its gastronomic offerings.
“Stop by Qutori Wines for more sampling and some lunch. The Greek Platter paired with a glass of their rose is the perfect lunch. Be sure to save room for a piece of pie, too, as autumn heralds the arrival of their pear and wine pie.”
Six Colorado Wines to Enjoy this Spring
Located just outside Paonia (inside Root & Vine Market and with breathtaking views of Mt. Lamborn), Qutori Wines is a family-run operation. Purchased by the Bennett family in 2016, with son Kyle taking the reins as winemaker, they started by planting eight acres of Pinot Noir grapes across the street from what would eventually become the tasting room. (They also planted a four-acre sweet cherry orchard.) The grapes from those eight acres are the basis of Qutori’s estate Pinot Noir.
